Week 12

Lil, thank you for doing this with me and pushing me to continue.

This week the bonus is:  100 situps/crunches and 20 min. of scripture reading each day.

I can't believe that we only have a month left.  Holy cow where did this summer go?!?!

Week 11

So it seems that there are only two of us left doing this challenge.  I realize that the summer is a busy time and that life is crazy and throws us curve balls.

But the two of us left are going to fight and fight hard til the end.

We only have 6 weeks left so these bonuses are going to be combining old bonuses.  So we will go back to weeks one and two.  This week's bonus: No chocolate and 3 servings of dairy!

Good luck!!!

Week 10

There are only 6 weeks left of the challenge and I think that there are only two of us still doing it.  Go Lil and me!!

For this week the bonus is dancing.  I know that I am posting this late for Friday so just give yourself the points.  Dancing should be at least 5 minutes but a good workout is 10 to 30 minutes.  Zumba is a great example.

School is over for the summer now so I will have a life again.  Arik is now done with all his church calling stuff for the summer and I am down with Girls Camp so Arik will now be able to focus on fires and stop saying no all the time.

Have a great week and enjoy the last few days of July because it is quickly disappearing.

Week 9

I want to apologize for not posting last week.  Life has been insane.  I am taking a 16 week class in 8 weeks time so I am overloaded there and then I went to Girls' Camp this last week as the director so I have been running around like a crazy person.

But here we are and I will do better.  I have not had weights or points from anyone but Lil and Amandalynn in the past 2 weeks.  I will update points and weight tomorrow.

This week's bonus:  (You get friday and sat as freebees)  Try a new workout.  It can be 5 minutes or 30 but try something new each day.

Week 7

Happy 4th of July to you all.  How did we do no drinking pop?  When I pick these bonuses I really need to look ahead to see what is going on.  Bad timing for a lot of these.

We are almost half way through our challenge.  You can do this!!

This week's bonus:Do a 5 minute workout that is focused on your legs.  You can do something for just 5 minutes right?

Have fun and good luck!!

Week 6

Alright everyone.  How did we do?  We can do this!!  Just push through.  I hope that everyone is safe and that no one has been in the line of the fires this summer.  It has been a bad year already.

So this week for our bonus we are doing no pop.  Each day that you don't drink pop you get 3 points (including your rest day).  For some this may seem really easy and for others this may be harder than the situps.  You can do this!!

Week 5

Holy Cow!  I can not believe that we are already on week 5.  Time is flying when you run around like a chicken with your head cut off, and my kids aren't even signed up for anything this summer.  Totally crazy.

I have to apologize for not updating scores and weights from last week.  Only a couple people told me last week so I was going to wait a day and get everyone elses and then time got away from me.  Aside from check email and doing school work I really haven't been on the computer much this week.  Shocking I know.  That will all change this next week as I am teaching a summer class that starts Monday.

Okay enough rambling.  This week's bonus is 15 minutes of yoga each day.  If you do yoga for your exercise then you need to do an extra 15 minutes to get the bonus.  No double dipping please.    If you don't have a yoga video or anything just go online and you can find youtube yoga videos.  You can do this.  Take time to breathe and relax.  :)

I have updated scores and weights with those that I have and included last week's in.  Again I am sorry.

Week 4

Doing this during a birthday is extremely difficult.  I was excited to step on the scale and see that my weight had not increased due to all the extra junk food (but very yummy)  I have eaten over the past couple of days.

I will post updated points and weight loss precentages later but I wanted to come on and add the bnous for this week.

This week's bonus:  Read your scriptures for 20 mins. a day.  We are going to work on our spiritual side as well.  Have fun and enjoy!

Week 3

Was not eating chocolate hard for anyone else?  Thanks Ann you were not a big help this week.

We could really use some interaction among everyone.  Please feel free to post comments and add anything you want.

I need ideas for bonuses and am up for anything.  Also, please post ideas or things you are using to help you in this challenge.

This week's bonus:  100 situps/crunches each day.  They are worth 3 pts each day.  (Even on your "day of rest").

For what we could become”

Week 2

So how did everyone do this week?  The first couple weeks are hard to get into.  Keep working at it.

I have only received points and new weights from a few people so as those others send me their stuff I will continue to change the standings.

Some of you are in various situations.  Brandee just had her gall bladder out and Rose Ann is having surgrey next week.  JUST DO WHAT YOU CAN DO!!

BONUS THIS WEEK:  NO Chocolate.  Each day that you do not eat chocolate you get 3 pts.  Good luck.

Food for thought

given by Elder Harold G. Hillam

So Let’s Do the Do’s

EXERCISE: Spiritual well-being is vital, but how you feel physically is also significant. Are you getting enough physical activity every day? President Ezra Taft Benson said, “Rest and physical exercise are essential, and a walk in the fresh air can refresh the spirit” (Ensign, November 1974, page 66).
SLEEP: It’s true, there’s nothing in section 89 about how much rest we should have each night, but go back a couple of pages to Doctrine and Covenants 88:124: “Cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.” [D&C 88:124]
Your body needs adequate rest. On the other hand, this doesn’t mean you should sleep all day.
FOOD: Eating correctly is another way of taking care of your body. The scriptures tell us that all grains are good for us (see D&C 89:14) and that meat is “ordained for the use of man” but should be “used sparingly” (D&C 89:12).
Directions for happiness and health are continually given to us by a very kind Heavenly Father. By using our agency we can conscientiously follow that inspiration, and by so doing bless our lives daily. The world will eventually find these truths by its trial and error method, as I discovered as a young dental student. But the obedient believer will already be happily enjoying the blessings.

Here we go!! Week 1

Here we go.  Week 1 is off.  There are many of you that I am missing starting weights from.  If you see a star next to your name it means that I need your starting weight.  If you wanted to join us and don't see your name off to the left, please leave a comment or send me an email.

I am so excited.  I already went out running this morning.  Yep, that's right.  So what have you done?!?!

For this week the BONUS is eating 3 servings of dairy each day.  If you do that you get 3 pts each day!!  This one can be done all 7 days.  I have included a spreadsheet to help you.  I tried to set it up so that you just added your numbers but I am afraid that when I moved it into Google docs for converting to a blog that part was removed.  So you just might have to do a little math.   Sorry, I am trying to make this as easy as possible.

The Challenge

Everyone loves a good challenge. So here is one for you. A 16 week exercise/weight loss challenge. I need competition to really motivate myself so here it is. For 16 weeks we will compete for points and weight loss, at the end of the 16 weeks the three people with the highest point total will win various gift cards to any place of their choice. THIS IS FREE!! NO MONEY!! Each Friday you will weigh yourself and send me an email. I will not share anyone's weight with anyone else and no one besides myself will see it. I will post the number of pounds you have lost and then weight loss percentages.

We will start on May 25th giving everyone one week to decide if they are in and give time to email me back and everything else. So the challenge has been given. Are you in?
